El Camino College's Creative Arts Journal

We are welcoming submissions from the El Camino College community during the spring semester. 

ECC students (current and former), staff and faculty are encouraged to submit short stories, creative nonfiction, poems, screenplays, and artwork. All subject matter is welcome, but this year we especially encourage works that bring awareness to culture, justice, identities, etc.

You can submit up to 3 works from each category: 

• short stories up to 3000 words
• creative non-fiction stories and essays up to 3000 words
• poems (all forms of poetry welcome: ekphrastic, form, free verse, prose poetry, etc.)
• screenplays up to eight pages
• images and visual arts (photography, digital art, paintings, sketches, comics, sculptures, etc.)
• multimedia projects (may include videos up to 10 minutes long of short films, music, slam poetry or other creative works)

Guidelines for written submissions: submit a .doc or PDF file, Times New Roman, 12 point font.

For art submissions: upload files 300 dpi resolution or higher. Multimedia submissions may be uploaded as files or entered as URL/links.

Please note that if you choose to submit materials that share your own experiences with sex or gender-based misconduct, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking or intimate partner violence, the English Department is required by law to report the problem to the District Title IX Office (Office of Staff and Student Diversity). However, psychologists are not required to report your incident. We encourage all submissions and we don’t want to discourage any type of subject matter that creators want to express.
