Myriad, El Camino College's Literary Arts Journal, welcomes submissions from El Camino College students during the spring semester. ECC students from the prior summer, fall, winter sessions and the current spring session are encouraged to submit short stories, creative nonfiction, poems, and artwork. Students can submit 1 short story no longer than 5000 words, 1 creative non fiction story no longer than 5000 words 3 poems, 1 screenplay no more than ten pages, and 3 images. 

The author/artist retains all rights to his/her submitted work. However, by submitting your work to Myriad, you agree to allow Myriad/El Camino College to publish your work in both print and digital form.  

By submitting any material, you agree that the work you submit is your own. 


 Please note that if you choose to submit materials that share your own experiences with sex or gender-based misconduct, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking or intimate partner violence, the English Department is required by law to report the problem to the District Title IX Office (Office of Staff and Student Diversity). However, psychologists are not required to report your incident. ECC Students can submit up to three pieces of art work. Submissions must be in digital format (jpg or tiff format). Please submit each piece individually. Although the artwork will be reproduced in black and white in print, please submit your work in high-resolution color, jpeg or tiff format. 

The author/artist retains all rights to his/her submitted work. However, by submitting your work to Myriad, you agree to allow Myriad/El Camino College to publish your work in both print and digital form. 

 By submitting work, you agree that all work is your own.  Any suspected plagiarism will be forwarded to the student discipline office.  

ECC students may submit up to three poems. Please send each poem individually. Your poem should have a title. In order to maintain anonymity during the selection process, please do not include your name in the document.  Your submission must be in a .doc, .docx, or .rtf format.

Wikipedia defines creative nonfiction as "(also known as literary nonfiction or narrative nonfiction) a genre of writing that uses literary styles and techniques to create factually accurate narratives. Creative nonfiction contrasts with other nonfiction, such as academic or technical writing or journalism, which is also rooted in accurate fact, but is not written to entertain based on writing style or florid prose."
